A new Irish paranormal series, Phantasm Collective, is set to premiere soon, offering viewers a unique and captivating journey into the paranormal. Produced by Deep Red, a production company based in County Cork, Ireland, the show investigates the paranormal through a blend of historical research, psychological analysis, and scientific methods.
What to Expect:
Anthony from GhostÉire said that Phantasm Collective will centre around three key aspects of paranormal investigation: spiritual encounters, psychological and physiological factors, and environmental/technical data. Each episode is dedicated to exploring one of these aspects, with the aim of answering a central question by the end of the show. The series is designed to appeal to both sceptics and believers, providing a balanced approach to the study of paranormal phenomena.
A typical episode unfolds over two nights of investigation. On the first night, either a local paranormal team or the GhostÉire team itself will conduct an initial exploration of the site, gathering data and observing phenomena. The second night is dedicated to experimenting with various techniques in an effort to find rational explanations for the events encountered. The show’s visual style will include night vision cameras, high-quality static filming, and drone footage that captures the eerie beauty of the locations.
Leading the investigations are Anthony Kerrigan and Jessica Murphy, two experienced investigators with a deep-seated passion for the paranormal. Kerrigan, an established paranormal investigator, brings a wealth of experience on the paranormal, occult practices, and scientific methodologies. Originally from England and now residing in Ireland, Kerrigan has authored two books on the paranormal, organised Ireland’s first paranormal convention in over a decade, and contributed to the Spooked Ireland series on Discovery+. He also hosts a popular vodcast where he interviews experts and enthusiasts from the paranormal community from Ireland and around the world.
Murphy, a modern day witch with expertise in tarot and mediumship, comes from Canada. Her skills in spiritual arts, combined with her charismatic and approachable presentation style, make her an ideal co-host. Murphy also hosts her own vodcast, sharing her insights and experiences with engaged audiences around the world.
The creators of Phantasm Collective are confident that the series will bring a new wave of interest in the paranormal in Ireland and maybe further afield. The show’s deep research, open minded approach to the paranormal, and interesting use of technology will hopefully set it apart from other paranormal programmes. The team employs equipment such as EEG brainwave monitoring and acoustic cameras, blending traditional paranormal investigation methods with modern scientific techniques to capture and analyse data in ways might not have been thought of before.
Kerrigan explains the show’s unique approach, “We explore the supernatural with no boundaries, yet we keep a level head, examining how the mind and body react under extreme circumstances. The technology we use is futuristic, and collecting data is crucial.” Kerrigan added “In addition, the viewer will notice that there isn’t any eerie music going on in the background during the investigative segments of the show; that way the viewer won’t be influenced, which will in turn eradicate any potential unfairness or bias towards alleged supernatural behaviour. Hopefully, the audience will be able to make up their own minds, and express their own opinions on credible or questionable anomalous events".
Phantasm Collective includes a range of experts such as Samuel Lawrence a hypnotist, Andy Mercer a psychotherapist and researcher and John Fraser from the Society for Psychical Research (SPR). Collaborations with teams like Puca Vogue Paranormal and Paragals further added to the investigative process, ensuring that each episode is grounded in experience and diverse perspectives.
The shooting and editing style of Phantasm Collective is documentary focused, but with a thrilling, educated edge. The series utilises night vision cameras for mobile movement and static cameras for high-quality scenes, ensuring that the visuals are as compelling as the investigations.
As we wait for the premiere of Phantasm Collective, paranormal enthusiasts will be eager to see how the series will delve into the unknown. With its expected different blend of spiritual investigation, psychological analysis, and scientific scrutiny, the show has the potential to offer a fresh perspective on the paranormal.
Whether you are a firm believer in the paranormal or a sceptic looking for answers, Phantasm Collective is set to be a must-watch series that challenges perceptions and explores the mysteries of the unseen.
