Virgin Mary Statue Reportedly Cries Tears of Blood
Bizarre/Strange

Church officials have launched an investigation following reports that a statue of the Virgin Mary in Mexico has apparently begun crying tears of blood. The statue represents Mary in her guise as Our Lady of Guadalupe, one of five visions said to have been revealed to a peasant named Juan Diego and his uncle Juan Bernardino in the 16th century.
The family in Morelia, Michoacán, who own the statue, contacted Catholic Church authorities when it allegedly started shedding red tears from its eyes on June the 2nd 2024. For the family's safety, the statue's exact location remains undisclosed. Local TV channel Canal13 Michoacán has shared photographs showing dark streaks running down the statue's cheeks, giving the impression of crying blood.
This occurrence has attracted numerous locals, with some proclaiming it a miracle. A neighbour expressed a profound emotional experience upon seeing the statue, saying, "I felt a sensation that I haven’t felt before, like a joy but also a real sadness because she is telling us, what will happen only she knows. It is a miracle and hopefully it is a miracle that is good for everyone".
While many believers view the sign as a divine message linked to the original apparitions, local church officials have urged caution. In a statement, the Archdiocese of Morelia emphasised the importance of careful consideration in such delicate matters. "It is necessary to highlight the need for caution when approaching an issue as delicate as that of an alleged miracle", the statement read.
The Archdiocese confirmed that it is taking "necessary measures to investigate the situation in a deep and exhaustive manner", noting that it is too early to issue a definitive position. "This in no way confirms anything in this regard, which is why [we] asked to treat the issue with adequate discretion, while inviting [everyone] to take advantage of this moment to motivate their own conversion and family prayer".
The Archdiocese has promised that the ecclesiastical hierarchy will appoint a team to conduct a detailed study of the case. "As soon as there is any relevant report or conclusion, it will be made public knowledge," the statement concluded.
This incident has not only stirred local communities but also garnered national and international attention, as many await the Church’s final judgement on what some hope to be a miraculous event.
