'Monsters' Found In Three Year Old's Bedroom
Bizarre/Strange
Saturday 4th, May 2024
In a strange discovery at a Charlotte, North Carolina farmhouse, tens of thousands of honeybees were found living inside the bedroom wall of three year old Saylor Class, whose complaints of "monsters in the wall" turned out to be eerily accurate.
The young girl's fears began several months ago, following a viewing of the popular animated film, "Monsters, Inc." Her parents, initially believing her claims to be a burst of imagination, even provided her with a "monster spray" made of water to help soothe her concerns. However, the reality behind her persistent complaints was revealed when a beekeeper was called in to investigate an unusual number of bees around the family's 100 year old house.
Ashley Massis Class, Saylor’s mother, noted the situation escalated when she spotted bees clustering near their attic and chimney. "It lit up like Christmas", she recalled upon the beekeeper using a thermal camera to scan her daughter's bedroom walls. This led to the shocking discovery of a massive hive that had penetrated deep into the walls, extending from the attic directly above Saylor's room.
The beekeeper involved, who Saylor referred to as the "monster hunter", discovered the bees' entry point through a coin sized hole in an attic vent. During the removal process, approximately 55,000 to 65,000 bees along with 100lb (45kg) of honeycomb were extracted. The operation required the bees to be gently vacuumed out in order to relocate them safely to a sanctuary dedicated to honeybee conservation.
Despite the fascination of the discovery, the incident has caused substantial damage to the property, particularly the electrical wiring. Ms. Massis Class reported that the honeybees and their honey have resulted in damages exceeding €18,000. Furthermore, she expressed frustration as her homeowner's insurance would not cover the repairs, considering the damage preventable.
The bees have since been safely relocated, and multiple extractions were necessary to ensure all bees were removed from the premises. The family has had to temporarily screen off Saylor's room to prevent any stray bees from re-entering during the process.
So next time your child says there are monsters in their room at night, maybe have a another look and listen for anything in the walls.
