Ghost hunters from the Paranormal Supernatural Investigations Ireland (PSII) team claim to have captured a spectral apparition at the historic Kinnitty Castle in Co Offaly, Ireland. A member of the public, partaking in one of the PSII's ghoul hunting expeditions, reportedly snapped a photograph in the banquet hall that the team believe reveals the ghostly figure of Hugh the Monk.

Richard Morrison, co-founder of the Galway based PSII team, described the encounter, stating,
"The picture clearly shows a manifestation of a spirit. We believe this could be the image of Hugh the Monk who has been well known to haunt Kinnitty Castle. It is a very exciting development."

The PSII team, consisting of five paranormal investigators, regularly conducts investigations into paranormal activities at various locations across the Ireland and further afield. The team has recently adopted a more transparent approach by inviting members of the public to join their tours.

Morrison emphasised the significance of sharing their work with the public, stating,
"It's about opening up to the public about what we do. We normally don’t even hold public investigators, but from our online pages, we like to interact with the public and let them have the opportunity to come out with us once in a while."

The photograph in question was taken by a participant during a tour of Kinnitty Castle in February 2024. Morrison explained that the PSII team led the group to an area with a reportedly high electromagnetic energy, instructing them to take pictures. The team, proponents of spirit photography, values visual evidence over Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP).

Morrison goes on to say,
"The best thing is that it was a member of the public who captured the image with our equipment,"

"The tour consisted of 15 members of the public and five of us."

The historic Kinnitty Castle, known for its tales of hauntings, particularly in the Geraldine room, has become a focal point for the PSII team. Morrison shared their fascination with the castle's banquet hall, citing historical connections to monks and their graves as potential sources of paranormal activity.

“We believe this could be the image of Hugh the Monk, who has been well known to haunt Kinnitty Castle,” Morrison explained, hinting at the possibility of ongoing investigations at the site.

Despite the inevitable skeptics, Morrison finds satisfaction in showcasing the team's work to the public, affirming its authenticity. Morrison goes on to state,
"You can’t make that up; it is happening right in front of members of the public. That’s what we love about it. The members of the public can see first-hand. It is not made up; it is real,"

As the PSII team gears up for another public investigation at Kinnitty Castle on March the 19th 2024, Morrison encourages enthusiasts to seize the opportunity to explore and investigate one of Ireland’s most haunted locations. The event promises an immersive experience, with participants booked into Kinnitty Castle to witness the team in action and potentially encountering the paranormal world themselves.
