SAW's Lost Souls investigate Cumber House that has a dark background and continues to draw visitors and paranormal investigators to this day.
Claudy's historic Cumber House, known for its haunted history, has for years been stirring up more ghostly stories, leaving visitors and paranormal researchers eager to delve into the mysterious occurrences. The old manor, abandoned and shrouded in tales of spectral happenings, has become a focal point for those intrigued by the paranormal.
Reports from witnesses describe odd noises, the sound of a woman's voice in the landing area, dark figures peering around dim corridors, and mysterious footsteps echoing through the long forgotten function rooms. Cumber House, one of Northern Ireland's reputedly most haunted locations, continues to generate spine chilling stories.
One particular account from the house's past involves the Browne family, rich landowners and former owners of Cumber House. The family's association with a priest took a dark turn after the patriarch's demise. Allegedly, a priest made a damning comment about the deceased Browne, claiming he was burning in the fires of hell. The revelation led to a confrontation, with the deceased man's son holding a pistol to the priest, demanding proof of his father's afterlife status.
"The priest got down on his knees and started praying like never before," a witness recounted. The son, growing increasingly agitated, witnessed the priest's desperate attempts to prove his claim. The climax came when the priest, in a dramatic display, rolled up his trousers, drew a circle on the floor, and began praying on his bare knees. To everyone's astonishment, the ghost of the old man Browne purportedly emerged from flames within the circle.
Following this paranormal encounter, the ghost of the old man continued to haunt Cumber House until the family sought the assistance of another priest. This second clergyman allegedly banished the apparition by drawing a circle at the base of a tree on the property, compelling the ghost to enter it. Subsequently, the ghostly presence seemed to dissipate.
Today, the grounds surrounding Cumber House remain a source of trepidation for many, with reports of knocking and scraping sounds emanating from the vicinity of a particular tree. Only the some are willing to explore the grounds unaccompanied after nightfall.
