Disappearance
Monday 24th, January 2022
On the 11th of October 1995 Anthony Donnellan disappeared without a trace and 27 years on Anthony's family have never had any closure or details of what might have happened to Anthony.
This is one of the few rare cases where no trace is found for a period of time, there has been no contact from Anthony with any family or friends in the 27 years since his disappearance.
After secondary school Anthony, also known as Tony, moved to London from the family home in Clare, Ireland for better life and career choices. Anthony's sister, Dolores followed him to Londaon in 1990 and regularly saw her brother for drinks and dinner while living in London.
At the time of Anthony's disappearance he was living in a flat in Camberwell and was working at Harvey Nichols. Two weeks before Anthony's disappearance, he met up with his sister Dolores in Leicester Square where they had dinner and went to the cinema to see Braveheart, Dolores would go on to say that everything felt normal and there were no indications of anything to suggest Anthony might disappear.
Anthony had recently come out to his siblings as being gay but had yet to come out to his parents and it was Anthony's ex-boyfriend that raised the initial alarm that Anthony was missing.
Police searched Anthony's flat and found nothing unusual except for an envelope addressed to Dolores with £1,000 in cash inside.
With nothing coming to light to indicate anything as to what had happened to Anthony his family decided to hire a private investigator to try and get something, but this was to also end with no new information.
Anthony's mother passed away in 2004, after nine years of appealing for information on her son, with nothing ever coming forward.
Anthony's sister said in 2015, "We don't believe he's alive - especially because of mam. They were so close and he'd never have let her suffer and die without saying goodbye."
