Two Men Prop Up Third Deceased Man to Collect Pension
Bizarre/Strange
Saturday 22nd, January 2022
On the morning of the 21st of January 2022 two men brought a deceased third man into a post office in County Carlow, Ireland. The men then proceeded to attempt to withdraw the deceased man's pension. Staff at the post office immediately became suspicious and contacted Gardaí (Irish police) who attended the scene in what has been described as one of the most bizarre incidents Gardaí have seen in recent years.
Initially a man arrived at the post office at approximately 11:30am on Friday 21st to collect a man's pension but was advised that the pensioner would have to be present for the money to be handed over. This interaction looks to have been the catalyst for the events that followed.
A local woman who lives beside the post office told how her daughter had witnessed the two men carrying the deceased man into the shop, "She was leaving my house at the time and said the man looked unwell as his feet were dragging the ground", the woman went on to say, "It's a small shop and you're only allowed three at a time with social distancing. People were in shock as they thought he was after having a heart attack,".
"I feel awful for the staff. They've suffered so many robberies over the years, they're worn out. I've a 12 year old daughter and I'm trying to explain to her what happened and sure where do you start. It's awful."
The deceased man is reported to have been known to the other two men.
No money was handed over during the incident and Gardaí are investigating the incident, "Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the unexplained death of an elderly male in the Carlow area this morning, Friday 21st January 2022".
"The services of the Garda Technical Bureau and the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested."
"A post mortem will be conducted by the Office of the State Pathologist, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation."
It's further been reported that the deceased man may have been dead only a few hours prior to the incident at the post office.
