No New Monkeypox Cases in Ireland 2023 - Latest Update from Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) - 21st January 2023

A total of 228 confirmed cases have been recorded up to midnight of the 21st of January 2023 in Ireland of mpox (monkeypox).
No new confirmed cased were notified in week 5 of 2023.
Among all 228 cases notified to date, gender for 226 cases is male and two cases is female. Median age
is 35 years.
Again the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) has stated that the cases are not unexpected following the presence of monkeypox cases in the UK and many European countries.
The Public Health teams are following up each case and contacting close contacts of confirmed cases where required.
