Vanishing Triangle - Eight Missing People
Disappearance
Wednesday 7th, July 2021
Ireland's 'Vanishing Triangle', a name adopted by the media, refers to an area where strange disappearances occurred between 1993 and 1998 in Leinster, Ireland.
These disappearances consisted of eight young women in a roughly triangular area, the eight women who disappeared where, Annie McCarrick (26), Eva Brennan (39), Imelda Keenan (22), Josephine "JoJo" Dullard (21), Ciara Breen (17), Fiona Pender (25), Fiona Sinnott (19) and Deirdre Jacob (18). All these women disappeared without a trace despite intense investigation.
The similarities of all the disappearances made investigators believe that they were dealing with a serial killer. The more disturbing aspect of a couple of the disappearances, namely in the case of Deirdre Jacob is that it occurred in broad daylight.
In 2001 Larry Murphy was convicted for the abduction, rape and attempted murder of a young woman in a forested area of the Wicklow mountains, following Murphy's arrest and imprisonment the pattern of missing women crimes ceased.
Murphy is regarded as being the prime suspect in the disappearance of these eight women, specifically the disappearances of Annie McCarrick, JoJo Dullard and Deirdre Jacob are suggested that Murphy was responsible as he lived in the area at the time of the disappearances.
Murphy was released from prison on the 12th August 2010 after serving only 10 years of a 15 years sentence. Since his release from prison natives of his hometown of Baltinglass said Murphy wasn't welcome. Murphy has been reported to have travelled between Spain and Amsterdamn, and back to Ireland at one stage. It's believed that Murphy is currently living in south London under an alias, working as a carpenter.
Unconfirmed reports have stated that Murphy was ruled out as a suspect in the disappearance of Josephine Dullard.
