The Commodore Hotel (a 3 star rated hotel) which is located in Cobh county Cork, Ireland was originally known as "The Queens Hotel" which opened its doors in 1854 to the public and is still open to this day. The hotel overlooks the harbour that has seen many events over the years.

Aside from the Commodore Hotel, Cobh has a rich history of visits that preceded an untimely fate, most notably would be the Titanic as Cobh was the last stopping point before tragedy struck the vessel, Cobh was also the port of call for a number of other vessels that met a cold watery ending.

On the 7th of May 1915 the RMS Lusitania was sunk off the coast of Ireland near Cork by a German U-boat. Of the passengers and crew onboard, 1,198 perished in the attack with the survivors being brought to shore and looked after in the hotel. A hospital and morgue were put together at the hotel to look after the wounded and dead.

The owner of the hotel at the time of the sinking of the RMS Lusitania was a German man named Otto Humbert. In fear of his and his family's lives after the attack for simply being German, Otto took refuge with his family in the hotel basement.

There are many strange occurrences reported in the Commodore Hotel to this day, a quick view of some hotel/travel review websites and you'll find nestled in among all the reviews the odd review that touches on spooky incidents experienced by guests at the hotel.

One of the reported paranormal occurrences is of screams from a baby on the upper floors of the Commodore Hotel, it's reported that the screams are from an abandoned baby that was found in a suitcase at the hotel in the early 20th century.

Another reported ghostly going on is of a British army captain that is said to have ended his life in the hotel and it's said you know when the captain is around as he causes temperatures to drop in his presence.
