Over 2,250 Fish Found Dead In Glenagannon River, County Donegal

An investigation is underway after more than 2,250 fish were found dead in the Glengannon River in County Donegal.
Of the fish found dead, they're made up mostly of juvenile brown trout and Atlantic salmon. The fish kill comprised several year classes of fish.
Inland Fisheries Ireland was made aware of the fish kill by a member of the public through it's 24 hour confidential hotline on Friday the 26th of August 2022.
It's reported that the fish kill covers and area of about 4 kilometres of the Glengannon River.
Inland Fisheries Ireland said it is following a "definite line of inquiry" to find the cause of the fish kill. Legal proceedings may follow.
Inland Fisheries Ireland’s director of the north-western river basin district Milton Matthews thanked the person who alerted about the incident.
