A climatologist from Tohoka University, Kunio Kaiho has identified a pattern linking the temperature of the Earth's surface and the diversity of life on Earth.
Mr. Kaiho's research shows a link between an increase and decrease in the average Earth temperature causes the death of many species of flora and fauna.
Forecasts agreed by scientists' suggest an upward temperature change of 5.2 degrees (41.36F) which is believed could lead to an extinction level event.
Mr. Kaiho has said that a warming at a critical 9 degrees will come by 2500.
