Woman Killed in India Over Accusations of Practicing Witchcraft

On Sunday the 3rd of June 2022 at approximately 8:30pm it's alleged that five people dragged a 70 year old woman 200 metres away from her home and beat her to death with sticks under the assumption that she had been practiced witchcraft.
The incident took place in Jharkhand's Garhwa district, specifically, Khuri village which is under Chiniyan police's remit, one person has reported to have been taken into custody by police.
"Her body has been sent for postmortem," a police officer said.
The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) says that a total of 590 people, most of them women, have been killed between 2001 and 2020 in relation to witchcraft.
Witchcraft is considered a social evil in the country.
