Two People Charged on Conspiring to Bring a Child into the UK to Harvest Organs

Two people have been charged with conspiring to bring a child into the United Kingdom in order to harvest organs, said the Metropolitan Police.
The two people Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55, and Ike Ekweremandu, 60, have been remanded in custody to appear in court today at Uxbridge Magistrates' court.
The pair that are from Nigeria were charged following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime team.
The investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022, the police said.
The child involved has been safeguarded.
