Gary McKinnon, a name well known among UFO groups or anyone with an interest in the UFO/UAP phenomena has said that he saw thousands of images when he accessed NASA systems over his 56k dial up modem between February 2001 and March 2002.
Now 56 years old Gary is reported to have broken into 97 United States government computers and from what he say is convinced that NASA is covering up evidence of alien life.
Gary spoke to The Sun paper recently about what he reportedly found and the lengthy legal battle he went through and being threatened with extradition and prosecution in the United States.
Gary said, "It's a fact that there are objects we don't understand flying around in our skies. It's also a fact that there are scientific, intelligence and military departments that study these objects."
"I was absolutely gobsmacked, and those folders had thousands more images."
After word spread about what Gary had done and possibly found US authorities weren't happy and he was arrested in 2002 and again in 2005 at the request of the US authorities and it has been reported that the 'damage' caused by Gary was move than $700,000.
A long legal battle to have Gary extradited to the US to face the US legal system, which started in 2006 and in October 2012 Theresa May blocked Gary's extradition on the account of his Asperger's syndrome.
Following Theresa Mays intervention, Keir Starmer who was the director of public prosecutors at the time said that Gary would not face prosecution in the United Kingdom either.
Gary is said to have gone looking for evidence of UFO's being scrubbed from images as was said by former NASA employee Donna Hare which reportedly took place at the Johnson Space Center.
Gary was only able to download one image of a cigar shaped object from the NASA systems before he lost his access.
Talking about the recent public hearing in the US on the UFO/UAP phenomena, Gary said, "[The hearing is] not significant at all for disclosure. These hearings, discussion panels and the like are never fruitful for disclosure".
Gary believes that the truth about UFOs is being hidden by the US government and he maintains that him accessing the NASA/US government systems via an unsecured version of the Windows operating system caused no harm.
