The Freemasons of Ireland have confirmed that an internal investigation is underway following the filming of an explicit music video at their headquarters on Molesworth Street in Dublin.

The building was used to film part of a video for the song Spit in It by Dublin rapper Eskimo Supreme, whose real name is Alex Sheehan. The scene, intended to depict a room in Westminster, features actors portraying paramilitaries shouting explicit demands at a woman referred to as "Your Royal Highness".

The video, which was released on YouTube last week, contains graphic content and has prompted concerns regarding the use of the Freemasons’ premises for such material.

Philip Daley, Grand Secretary of the Freemasons in Ireland, confirmed in an emailed statement: “It would be inappropriate to make any further statement until our investigation is complete.”

Eskimo Supreme is signed to Greenback Records, a label founded in summer 2024 by MMA fighter Conor McGregor alongside music industry partners. The label is credited at the end of the music video.

This development comes shortly after a separate controversy involving the Freemasons’ Dublin hall. Earlier this month, the organisation issued an apology following revelations that the venue had been used to film an interview between Mr McGregor and US political commentator Tucker Carlson.

Speaking on RTÉ’s This Week programme last Sunday, Mr Daley described the decision to allow that interview as a “mistake” and stated that new procedures had since been implemented to prevent similar incidents. He added that the fee received for the interview had been donated to charity.

The Freemasons’ investigation into the music video is ongoing.
