3 minute read.
In March 2025, several reported unexplained aerial phenomena were logged across Ireland. Witnesses in various locations, across the whole island of Ireland, observed strange lights, unusual movements, and other mysterious occurrences in the sky. These are just a few of the total cases reported in March 2025.
Dublin, Ireland (March 1st, 2025)
At 17:29 local time, a sighting was reported in Dublin, Ireland, lasting approximately five minutes. The primary witness, while observing an aeroplane, noticed "two bright silver orbs flying above the aeroplane" and called their 17-year-old daughter to witness the event. The objects appeared to "disappear and reappear" while moving from west to east across the sky. Positioned directly overhead at a 90-degree angle of elevation, the orbs were described as small and surrounded by an "aura or haze." Their speed was unknown but appeared fast at high altitude. The witness attempted to capture the phenomenon on their phone after alerting their daughter, who continued watching while they retrieved the device.
Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland (March 9th, 2025)
At approximately 22:25 local time, a driver travelling east on the M4 between Kilcock and Maynooth, County Kildare, observed three unidentified flying objects over a span of 10 to 15 minutes. The objects, described as "diamond/stingray in shape" and black in colour, measured an estimated 5 to 10 metres in both directions. The first was seen hovering ahead to the right before slowly crossing over the motorway to the left. Five minutes later, a second object appeared, following a similar flight pattern, and a few minutes after that, a third was sighted near Exit 7. As it moved over the road, it illuminated "three lights on its underside." The objects were estimated to be between 100 and 200 metres away and travelling at around 50 km/h, although both figures were difficult to judge. The witness considered that the objects could have been drones but was unable to confirm this explanation.
Enfield, County Meath, Ireland (March 9th, 2025)
At 22:30 local time, two witnesses travelling east on the M4 motorway between the Enfield toll and Exit 7 in Maynooth observed three unidentified flying objects over a period of ten minutes. The objects were dark in colour, diamond or "manta ray" in shape, and measured approximately 5 metres by 5 metres. Initially appearing as a bright stationary light in the distance, the first object was seen hovering before flying low over the car, revealing several lights on its body. It had "no wings" and a white light at the nose, along with some red lights. The second and third objects followed a similar pattern, crossing from right to left several kilometres apart. The third vessel, as it moved overhead, activated "extra spotlights on its underside mid-flight." The estimated speed was around 180 km/h, with the closest approach at approximately 200 metres. While the possibility of drones was considered, no definitive explanation was determined.
Passage West, County Cork, Ireland (March 15th, 2025)
At 21:36 local time, a single witness in Passage West, County Cork, observed a mysterious silver, metallic object ascending into the sky for approximately ten seconds. Described as "dome-like/square" in shape and about the size of a car when viewed up close, the object emitted a "massive white beam of light from the top" as it rose. The night was dark and cloudy, and the object made no noise as it ascended steadily before vanishing into the cloud cover. The closest distance was estimated to be around 90 metres, and its speed was described as "not very fast." The presence of aircraft nearby was also noted during the sighting.
