A 12-year-old boy who vanished mysteriously while playing hide and seek near his home in Lop Buri was found hours later in an incident that has left locals contemplating supernatural influences.

On 25 March, emergency services and local police were alerted to the boy’s disappearance from his home in the Mueang district. Search efforts commenced at approximately 11:45 am, involving family members, local leaders, and police officers combing the nearby forest and hills. Despite their extensive search, he remained missing until 3:00 pm.

The boy, referred to as A, was eventually located by his friends, Jazz, a 10-year-old girl, and Keng, a 9-year-old boy. They found him sitting quietly near his home. This revelation astonished searchers, as the area had been meticulously examined for almost three hours.

Despite numerous individuals scouring the vicinity, none had seen A, who was discovered sitting under a sunshade. He appeared disoriented and covered in dirt, seemingly affected by the heat and dust.

When questioned, A revealed that he had felt neglected because he was not allowed to perform a traditional Thai dance. He had begun dancing during the game, and Jazz recounted how A had emerged from his hiding place to perform an unfamiliar dance. His movements unsettled his friends, but despite their apprehension, A insisted he could not stop. Assuming he was still engaged in the game, they continued playing, leading to the confusion and subsequent search.

As details of the incident emerged, locals recalled eerie tales of past tragedies in the area. Among them was the case of a man who murdered and buried his wife nearby the previous year. This, along with other unsettling events, fuelled speculation that spirits may be lingering in the vicinity.

Some residents believe A’s strange behaviour could have been influenced by supernatural entities, prompting discussions about the necessity of a religious ceremony to appease wandering spirits. According to KhaoSod, community leaders have decided to conduct a merit-making ceremony on 30 March, coinciding with the anniversary of the murder, to offer blessings and bring peace to the area.

Regardless of whether one believes in supernatural phenomena, the events of the day have left a deep impression on the community, sparking discussions on both rational and spiritual explanations for the boy’s disappearance and behaviour.
